REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPIRED/PAGE RUN OUT FOR ORDINARY PASSPORT
Somali Citizens are entitled to apply for the renewal of an ordinary passport, by fulfilling the following prescribed requirements:
- 1. Formal Written Request Letter: Prepare and submit a signed request letter expressing the need for passport renewal or reprint.
- 2. Two Passport Photos: Provide two recent passport-sized photographs that meet the specified requirements.
- 3. Expired or Depleted Passport: Submit the original or a copy of the expired or depleted passport, which serves as proof of previous passport issuance.
- 4. Birth Certificate: Include the original birth certificate issued by the local government. For applicants residing outside the country, an original birth certificate issued by the Somali embassy or consulate in their country of residence will be accepted.
- 5. Certificate of Non-Criminal Record: Obtain a valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Somalia. Alternatively, an equivalent document issued by Somalia Embassies or Consulates may be provided.
- 6. Personal and Document Verification: Successfully complete the designated verification process, which involves a personal interview and examination of relevant documents to ensure the accuracy of your identity and eligibility.
- 7. Passport Payment Receipt: Present a valid receipt as proof of payment for the prescribed passport application fee.
- NB: The passports with less than six months of validity or depleted pages are eligible for renewal. It is important to emphasize that Somali passports cannot be renewed by stamping; a full renewal with a new booklet is always required. Obeying to these requirements will facilitate the smooth renewal process, ensuring that Somali citizens have valid and up-to-date passports for their travel needs.
