Inter-Agency Border Management Committee Established in South West State

The Director-General of the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Mr. Ahmed Said Mohamed, officially closed a meeting aimed at forming the Inter-Agency Border Management Committee (IBMC) in South West State.

The Director-General urged the committee to strengthen internal cooperation to enhance border security while facilitating the movement of people and goods. He emphasized the critical importance of prioritizing the exchange of key information and data to ensure proper oversight of all cross-border activities, both incoming and outgoing.

Similar IBMCs have already been established in Mogadishu and the federal member states of Puntland, Jubaland, and Galmudug. The primary goal of these committees is to promote the seamless movement of people and goods and to advance cross-border collaboration.
