On June 11, 2023,
Mr. Ahmed Abdi Karie, the President of Galmudug, and Mr. Abdulkadir Elmi Ali, the Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia (ICA), formally inaugurated a new ICA enrollment centre in Dusamreb, the capital of Galmudug. State officials, including members of the Federal Parliament, state ministers, state members of parliament, and the mayor of Dusamareb, attended the ceremony.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ali, the Director General of ICA, stated that the centre will provide Galmudug residents with access to all immigration services in their capital city. This initiative is consistent with the agency’s broader plan to decentralise and extend its services throughout the country. “This project is a component of the ICA’s initiatives to build comparable facilities in other Federal Member States (FMS),” added Ali.
Presidential Karie of Galmudug, conversely, conveyed appreciation to the ICA for their endeavours in the development of this building. “We are very proud to inaugurate today this new enrollment centre of the ICA, and I appreciate the ICA for promptly responding to our requests.”
At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Ali pledged that ICA would develop a new border control facility in Balambal, Galgadud, to regulate products and people crossing the border to and from Ethiopia.
