Delegation from Somalia Engages with Danish Officials on Passport Recognition
A delegation led by Mr. Ahmed Said Mohamed, the Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia, has embarked on a work trip to Copenhagen, Denmark, to discuss the recognition of Somali passports with Danish officials.
During their visit, the delegation engaged in productive discussions with leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Immigration, and the National Identity Agency of Denmark. The meetings focused on enhancing cooperation between the two nations and exploring how the Danish government can contribute to the development of service infrastructure within the Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia.
Key topics included the potential recognition of Somali passports, particularly those issued for work and personal travel, aimed at facilitating entry for Somali citizens traveling under legal status. The Danish government is recognized as a significant donor in supporting the development of infrastructure and services within the Immigration and Citizenship Agency.
In addition to these discussions, the Director General and his delegation met with officials at Copenhagen Airport. They received a comprehensive briefing on airport operations and conducted an inspection of various sections, particularly the passport control area and the operations managing flight data.
This visit underscores the commitment of the Federal Government of Somalia to enhance international cooperation and improve the welfare of Somali citizens abroad.
