The President of Galmudug, Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qor Qor, and the Director General of the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Mr. Ahmed Said Mohamed, have inaugurated the building of the Balambale border post in the Balambale district of the Galgaduud region.
The new border post is a crucial step in strengthening border security and monitoring movement across the shared border with Ethiopia. Director General Mohamed, speaking at the ceremony, emphasized the importance of legal entry and the need to prevent illegal border crossings. He stated that this building is part of a plan to build border posts across shared borders with neighboring countries, ensuring the safety and security of the nation by monitoring these borders and enforcing legal entry procedures.
President Qor Qor expressed his gratitude to the Immigration and Citizenship Agency for their dedication to this project, which will enhance security and facilitate trade in the region. He highlighted that the new border post will be a vital monitoring point for the movement of goods and people along the Galgaduud region’s border with Ethiopia, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening borders and ensuring the safety and prosperity of the people.
The Balambale border post is one of several new border posts being constructed throughout Somalia to enhance security and facilitate trade. mmigration officers stationed at these posts play a vital role in checking travel documents and preventing smuggling across the border.
